It is the job of the people in the armed forces to ensure that the citizens of the country are properly defended and protected at all times. This includes ensuring that they are protected against any threat- domestic and foreign. As such, an immense responsibility like this can only be carried out when the right resources, the right tools, and the right technology are present.

Back in the day, operations involving the military and the troops tend to be carried out in a way where everything is done on the ground level. In recent times though, equipment were introduced that do not only allow the troops to fight on the sea, but to fight airborne as well. This is why the presence of the 229th assault helicopter battalion has proved crucial in troops performing their duties more effectively.

Though helicopters have been mainly used for transport and evacuation purposes in the past, their recent use has them play more active roles when it comes to combat. When equipped with arms, they have the ability to attack targets that are on the ground and on the air. They can be use dot cater to multiple roles. Hence, they can be used a to when it comes to resolving mission-related requirements.

Those units that are used mainly for assault can be armed with rockets, cannons, and even guided missiles. They will also have the capability to be equipped with leading aerobatic and avionics equipment. A good modern attach unit is one that should have the ability to provide anti-tank capabilities. This way, it can play a very significant role towards supporting the troops on the ground.

These kinds of helicopters are often used in different modes. There are often four common modes in which they are usually used for. The first one has something to do with the standoff approach, this requires the unit to be at a closer range to the friendlies. Since the unit is hovering near the enemies, they are then used as a a missile launcher to protect the ground troops against tanks.

Another mode is when it is used to climb, approach, hit, and run. In this mode, the unit is used to climb a certain height to allow it to spot where the enemies are. Once the enemies are spotted, it will approaches its location and fires. Unguarded rockets and autocannons are often used for these attacks. This is done through a limited and forward field fire thought. So, heavy hardening of the unit and of the gears if the crew is required for this to work.

There are attack helicopters that are used to circle or hover. They will usually circle high and then proceed to shoot the ground bound opposition that it is targeting. Oftentimes, this is done through the use of an autocannon. Hover or circle high and shoot at ground-bound opposition preferably with a fully movable autocannon. However an approach like this will not work when an effective air defense is present.

There are also those helicopters that are being used for infiltration purposes too. They are used for this purpose due to the fact that they happen to have a very high mobility despite working on high terrains. Using this method allows troops to attack the rear end of an opposition. However, for this method to work, it is required for the troops to have the necessary sophisticated weapons and armaments. Versatile fire control is also needed to pull this off.
