Mentally disabled people are those people whose minds are not normal resulting to some kind of impairment. They do things that normal people cannot do and this makes them abnormal in a way. The society does not recognize these people as a part of it hence many of them are neglected and abandoned on the streets where they survive from hand to mouth instead of putting them up in group homes for developmentally disabled adults.

Relatives of these people go through tough emotional times since very few are able to accept the condition they are born with. Monitoring them can be a hard nut to crack because when they are not monitored they can lead to loss of items and the violent can injure other family members. Stress grows to depression to the members since they have a lot in mind concerning their loved ones and the depression can lead to death.

Challenges that the mentally disabled people face are numerous to mention but a few includes; poverty, poor hygiene and disease attack that leads to poor health and job discrimination. These challenges if not well looked into they follow them up to their graves. Life is not as smooth as people think and to these people who live with the mental disabilities hence they try to survive through tooth and nail.

When we scrutinize at these challenges the mentally disabled do face poverty is one of the major problem since very few people give these mentally challenged victims a chance to work and earn a living. When the urge to have basic commodities do reach to the peak these people are forced to loiter here and there begging for food and money which makes them able to survive. Dustbins where people throw remaining food can also attract them especially in streets since they have no place to call home.

Employers always crave to hire the best people who are mentally fit and require little supervision in their work hence rejecting to hire the mentally challenged personnel. Mentally challenged people are a threat to the normal people because when annoyed they can become violent hence posing as a threat to the lives of their workmates. Supervising them too can be very hectic since they require to be monitored each and every time in order to deliver the required services hence becoming annoying to the employers.

There is need to come up with group homes for these people whose minds are impaired, these helps the people who are around them happy since those who were violent are able to be swept up from the streets. They deserve special care and attention just like any other ordinary person. These also require the basic commodities including food, air and water in order to survive.

When they are placed in homes, they are able to get skills to make things out of their hands in order to earn a living. In these homes carpentry, sewing and other skills are equipped to the mentally impaired hence become useful people who builds the society and so do the economy. The materials they do make are later sold out hence bringing more funds to help in running and management of these homes.

There is need for helping the less fortunate in the society to earn a blessing from the Almighty God. Loving the people in need should be a priority not an option for our reward is great in heaven. These people are able to acquire life skills which they turn to be productive in the society.
