Travel enthusiasts often regale at the thought of visiting South America. The continent has got no shortage of naturally attractive exploration sites, which explains the seemingly great adoration it often gets. You might want to include the following locations in your Latin America adventure travel itinerary.

Among the highly trafficked nations in the continent include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia. The Inca trail in Peru kicks off this list. This awe inspiring site is situated at the top of the Andes Mountains. It lies within what was once the Inca city of Machu Picchu.

Many travelers adore it for its sheer breathtaking beauty. The trail is also complexly designed, adding to the mystery surrounding it. Many often wonder why such a grand site would be constructed in a place as remote as the Andes. What makes the site a top visited place by adventurers is the fact that the trails are challenging to traverse.

The continent is also famous for the Amazon. Almost every accomplished adventurer has explored this gem. In total, the Amazon ecosystem is estimated to traverse nine countries in a distance of 5.5 million square kilometers. It is also said to host thirty percent of all the plant and animal species in the world.

A big river and a rainforest make up the ecosystem. The Amazon River snakes through the rainforest over a number of countries. It is known to be the most diverse ecosystem globally owing to the diverse plant, fish and snake species found within it. One can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the expansive ecosystem from atop the tall canopies.

Further from all this beauty, the Brazil and Argentina border hosts the magnificent Iguazu Falls. Many visitors to this site always get taken aback by the glorious never ending waterfall rows. You get an adrenaline rush from just hearing the massive roar of the cascading waterfalls. In total, the cascades go on for an estimated three kilometers in the rainforest. The good thing is that one can watch the beautiful site safely by standing on the extensive boardwalk network setup close to the waterfalls.

Bolivia is a great tourist country too. The prime gem of the country is the Uyuni Salt Flats. It sits on a large swath of land in southwest Bolivia that was once occupied by a prehistoric lake. Whenever it rains, the never ending white landscape gets converted into a big mirror. The site often resembles a scene from a science fiction film.

Many adventurists also like to explore the Galapagos Islands. The islands are home to lots of spectacular marine species and birds. Many travel to get up close and personal with the playful tortoises and sea lions. The surrounding waters are also crystal clear, which makes for a perfect snorkeling opportunity. The penguins and iguanas are also incredible to watch.

Complete your tour with a visit to Rio de Janeiro. There is a legendary aspect to the Copacabana beach. It is always teeming with sunbathers from across the world. Christ the Redeemer statue overlooks the city from the Corcovado Mountain, giving the feeling of divine protection.
