The guard in basketball is often called the player who is going to pull the trigger for the plays. The guard since they are the players that are going to play on the perimeter a lot need to have some very specific drills that will help them in getting the high level of game play they want to have. Without this, the guards could have problems in getting to enjoy the game play because they are outmatched.

The first of the drills that people will want to do with kids is the free throw shots. Now the free throws may not come quite often for the kids who are playing, but this is a great way to start to teach the kids how to shoot. So the kids will be able to start to figure out how they can shoot the ball and learn what they are doing wrong.

A second drill that people will want to do with the kids is going to be the dribbling drills. This is going to teach the kids how to dribble the ball properly and how they can convert from driving the ball to protecting the ball in one fell swoop. Either way, the kids are going to need to know how to dribble the ball.

Passing is another basic skill everyone who wants to play basketball needs to master. The best drill you can do is to line up and pass the ball across. Try it between two players only to start with and don't move. After you master them movements, you can start passing while moving, as well as passing alternatively to players to your right and to your left.

This is one of the most beautiful things about sports like basketball, where the team effort matters a lot, but it is nothing without the individual effort of each member. This individual effort is measured in the drills you all do on a regular basis in order to improve your coordination and your technique.

As many people have found out, teaching the youth basketball is a lot more difficult than what they think. Since this is the case, people need to make sure they know about the basketball drills they can use to teach the kids.
