The northeast part of the country is home to one the most unique and outstanding college athletic league. Covered widely by media and corporations, it has given America a number of popular and talented athletes. It is the oldest African American sports conference and has closely followed the track of black higher education in universities.

CIAA is the acronym for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, which has members in four states and currently 12 member schools in NCAA Division II. CIAA 2017 has some excitingly awaited annual events in college sports as well as socials, celebrations and shows for registered or paying audiences. Recently, the organization has signed up with startup network Bounce TV for coverage of sports events and championships.

The conference has a proud and amazing tradition that is tied to the freedom of African Americans to participate in higher education as well as sports. It left is old Hampton Virginia home and relocated Charlotte, NC in 2015 and has new major corporate support. North Carolina is where 8 of league campuses are, and they officially participate in eight sports for men and an equal eight sports for women.

The conference campuses all have histories in courage, determination and optimism for student rights as well as the rights of all educated people in the country. Elizabeth City State University, Bowie State University, Fayetteville University, and Chowan University are part of the members list. Lincoln University, Livingstone College and Johnson C. Smith are also members.

Rounding up the list of conference members are Shaw University, Virginia SU, Virginia Union University, Winston Salem State and Saint Augustine. With all the historical highs and lows, it is recognized as the one of the brightest stars in the NCAA, belonging to an area that has perhaps the most competitive conferences. To reiterate, great things are expected for 2017 for this league.

Many people have long seen this conference as a crown jewel in college sports, what with the exceptional value it brings. Since coming to Charlotte, the league has created a sort of sports renaissance for the city, playing host to exceptional visiting athletes, professional and amateur. There are also a great many celebrity appearances that brighten up event and celebrations.

For exceptional fan experience, learn about conference schedules this coming 2017. Many events are still to be determined, but for sure a lot of professional and college basketball games will be featured. Of course, Charlotte will host the tourney from February 20th to 25th.

A lot of visitors are expected, probably in tens of thousands this coming year. Last year saw a great increase in visitors and guests for events, and many say that this year will be new record setter as well. This is the fruit of hard work among tournament organizers, players and member universities and colleges who are outstanding in making the sports experience exceptional for all.

Two official arenas for events are the Spectrum and the newly refurbished Bojangles. The primary concern is to host all projected events this year. The Charlotte Center retains the major official venue status and it has that well known address at the center of the city of Charlotte.
