When it comes to eating healthy, one spice doctors always suggest giving up is sodium. While this is the case, most individuals still prefer to use sodium and other spices on food. Whether Himalayan or table salt, there has been no proof that one is healthier than the other. However, most now prefer to use Himalayan Pink Salt Seasoning Titusville.

The Himalayan version comes from a mineral known as halite. The mineral actually comes form the Punjab area which is a mountain range in Pakistan. Halite is a dark reddish-beet color and is why the color pink has been associated with the name of the seasoning. As such, it should be noted that while stores around the world sell the seasoning as Himalaya pink salt or seasoning, it comes from Pakistan not the Himalayas.

As the substance is reported to have been discovered around 325 BC, it is believed to be some of the oldest known to man. In fact, the halite was originally discovered by Alexander The Great when the horses began licking the rocks. As such, it is now believed the substance had been mined there since that time frame. Although, the earliest mining records only go back to the 1200s with the Janjua people.

Now, halite is mostly mined at the Khewra Mine, in the foothills of the Pakistani mountain range. The mineral, while similar to table salt actually has additional minerals which others such as sea and table do not have. In addition, while there are other minerals mined in the area, most have impurities which are not healthy enough to be used in cooking or absorbed into the physical body.

It should be noted that it is also impurities in the pink halite which provide the reddish or beet-red color. While this is the case, usage in food has shown no issues with health concerns at this time. Still, it is important to consider thee facts when using with food or drink. If a health condition were to arise after using the salt, it is important to let health care professionals know if the salt is suspect as being related to the illness or condition.

The Himalayan version has a number of uses in Pakistan and around the world. While used to flavor food, there is no indication or evidence that it is healthier than table versions. At the same time, those whom have used it on a regular basis often report fewer issues with high blood pressure when compared to using the regular table version.

Blocks of the reddish pink ore are also being formed into cookware, dishes, cups and bake ware. After which, the products are lightly glazed with a protective coating. If and when using these items, it is important to follow the recommended cleaning methods or the salty taste could be absorbed from the products into food and drink.

One of the most popular items made with halite are that of lamps which are lit with electricity or candles. For, it is rumored that the substance contained in the lamp will dispel negative energy and clean the air from pollutants inside a home or office. While this has been rumored to be the case, there is no evidence suggesting any health benefits associated with using these lamps. At the same time, whether health benefits exist or otherwise, the lamps do provide low level light while making a nice table top decoration.
