Epoxy is a strong adhesive material that is used for sticking other materials together in a surface. It is a cured end products from epoxy resins which is also a term taken from the epoxide functional group. Epoxy Resins are basically polymers or reactive polymers known as polyepoxides. Two resins are needed to be mixed in order for it to be used.

The use is varied, for example, metal coatings, electrical parts, insulators, plastic materials, or structural adhesives. Although commonly for home use, it is utilized as an Ohio epoxy floor coating for garages in order to prevent wear and tear on the surface. This is usually applied on concrete that should be pre treated before application.

Due to the seamless and easy to clean surface for epoxy treated floors, a lot of industrial and garage owners have used this for their floors so that they can easily take away any debris or dirt. This is why other establishments like pharmaceutical packaging or production factories, bottling and beverage, food, and others, would use this. The maintenance is fast and convenient.

The luster of the surface creates an aesthetic look and gives a better atmosphere for the whole room. The material may be in different colors or styles and these can be designed and customized in any way possible. So it is up to you if you want just one flat color on the whole floor or you can mix and match various colors or giving it patterns. It is both attractive and durable.

Because it is chemically resistant, a lot of owners would use this for this exact reason. Manufacturing companies and warehouses, as well as industrial plants, would be using to maintain and protect the floors from any chemicals that may cause harm and damage to the floors, which would in time cause incidents. Because of its functionality, these chemicals may easily be removed. They resist heat, fire, impact, and slip.

Due to the design being flexible, it can be used as signages for warehouses in order to maintain organization and manage traffic. This can be used as a better alternative to paint which does not easily be worn out and is more effective against friction or abrasion. These signages are mostly for designating work zones, safety zones, and traffic movements.

Because of it being durable and highly resistant to wear and tear, investing on the material can produce savings from other expenses meant for maintenance and use of the mentioned utilizations. This is also environmentally friendly, which gives an advantage to the establishment due to eco friendly campaigns being promoted for all manufacturing companies that are dealing with harsh materials and chemicals.

Although there are many different reasons why the epoxy application would not work. Mostly this is caused due to poor primer or floor preparation. It is necessary to grind or shot blast the floor before installation. It should be clean, dry, dust free, and the substrate should be shot blast. Humidity also plays a key factor. Make sure there are no dripping pipes or taps, or any rising humidity underground.

A couple of additional reasons would be weak substrate, the wrong kind of primer or nothing at all, the surface is not compatible with the elasticity of the resin, which for example if applied on wood, the expansion would not coincide with the resin and thus would break. Another likelihood is for contaminated floors with oil and other debris that are not cleaned properly.
