When taking the career path for being an Electrician, it needs a few years of training and practices like any other profession. What it strongly requires from an individual is manual or physical dexterity, attention to detail, mathematical and logical skills, and overall technically adept. Most of the subjects that are included in this program are electrical theory, wiring, mathematics, circuitry, motor controls, and others. You can also take electrical engineering courses available online if you cannot have this taken a school or university. Take an apprenticeship in order to be certified as well, so combining these two would benefit you a lot.

An apprentice is called a Journeyman Electrician. Depending on the state, but most likely, it would take two to four years before you can take an examination. After this would be preparing for NEC which is the National Electrical Code examination. This is in regards to laws and regulations for safety which depends on the state.

License for Master Electrician would be the last major certification. The requirement for this includes passing the NEC as well as fulfilling the apprenticeship program for at least four or seven years. Passing this, you could then be a part of a contractor company or you can run your own agency and work independently.
